AeroFarms, a prominent indoor vertical farming company and leading U.S. microgreens supplier, was acquired in April 2026 by an affiliate of Palm Ventures. The ownership change significantly reduces AeroFarms' debt, installs a new management team led by CEO Gustavo Burger, formerly of Kraft Heinz, and prioritizes sustainable growth.
Palm Ventures, established in 1992 and led by Bradley Palmer, is an Austin- and Greenwich-based family investment office. Their investment is based on AeroFarms' proprietary aeroponic platform, strong retail market share, and the growing consumer demand for nutrient-dense, sustainably grown, clean-label foods.
The acquisition positions AeroFarms for expanded distribution and long-term growth in the microgreens category, which exhibits double-digit growth rates. AeroFarms' products are available in approximately 2,000 retail locations nationwide and offer exceptional concentrations of vitamins and phytonutrients.
Under the new leadership of Gustavo Burger, AeroFarms aims to enhance operational rigor and build on its advanced aeroponic platform. The company, a Certified B Corporation, is committed to its mission of sustainable practices, such as using 230 times less land and 90% less water than traditional farming.
