China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs published its Essentially Derived Variety implementation framework on 27 July 2026, effective on publication, covering rice, wheat, cotton, oilseed rape, groundnut, Chinese cabbage, pepper, millet, faba bean and peach.

It sets determination guidelines, crop-specific thresholds and lists 28 recommended testing institutions, building on Seed Law amendments effective June 2025.
