Farming minister Stephen Morgan announced a £20 million competition under Defra's Farming Innovation Programme, delivered with Innovate UK, for robotic and automated farming technologies covering planting, tending and harvesting.
Unlike the 2023 round it also covers livestock, forestry and ornamental horticulture. It forms part of £123 million of farming research investment this year, though industry says scale-up capital remains the bottleneck.
