Indian agritech DeHaat closes $190M Series F to expand farmer fintech across Southeast Asia

DeHaat closed a $190M Series F led by Belgian investor Sofina with continued participation from Prosus, Sequoia India, Lightrock, and Naspers. The round values the Patna-headquartered full-stack agritech at $1.65B post-money and is the largest Series F into Indian agriculture this decade. Founded in 2012, DeHaat now serves 3.7 million smallholder farmers through a network of 14,000 micro-entrepreneur 'DeHaat Centers' across 11 Indian states. Capital deployment is split three ways. Roughly 45% will fund a new Southeast Asia expansion — Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines — replicating the input-supply, agronomy-advisory, and crop-marketing playbook proven in India. 35% goes to scaling the company's input-credit and embedded crop-insurance products, which now generate 22% of revenue and grew 188% in the last fiscal year. The remaining 20% targets AI tooling for the agronomy advisory layer. DeHaat's business model is the cleanest counter-example to the Western thesis that smallholder agtech can't reach venture-scale. The company posted $312M in 2025 revenue (up 67% YoY), is gross-margin-positive at the unit level, and has steadily extended its take rate from a 4% commodity broker margin in 2018 to a blended 11% today as input-finance and crop-insurance attach rates have risen. The Southeast Asia move is strategically significant. The region has 65 million smallholder farmers and almost no incumbent agritech operator at scale; existing players (Eden Farm in Indonesia, Telio in Vietnam) are sub-scale and largely focused on B2B procurement rather than full-stack farmer relationships. DeHaat's competitive edge is not technology but a 13-year-tested franchise model that converts village micro-entrepreneurs into distribution endpoints. For investors the read-through is twofold: (1) emerging-market smallholder agtech has matured into a fundable category at growth-stage tickets, breaking the long-held view that only US/EU row-crop deals scale; and (2) embedded ag-fintech (input credit, parametric crop insurance, post-harvest loans) is now the highest-margin layer of the smallholder stack — expect a wave of early-stage rounds targeting these products specifically across Africa and Latin America in the next 12 months.
