EU-Startups has identified ten European precision agriculture startups, all founded since 2020, that are pioneering new technologies. These companies, operating across countries like Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Belgium, are leveraging data and sensors to enhance resource efficiency in farming.
These startups include Agurotech, which develops hardware and software combining soil moisture sensors, weather stations, and a digital app. Agrow Analytics, founded in Málaga in 2020, has raised €1.1 million for its platform improving agricultural water efficiency. Lualtek, launched in 2021, uses AI-powered satellite data for smarter farm irrigation.
The focus of these innovations is addressing critical agricultural challenges such as water scarcity, climate volatility, rising input costs, and labor shortages. Investment in this sector is spread across several early-stage and growth-stage companies, indicating a broad shift towards data-led, automated farming practices.
Companies like Osiris Agriculture, developing agricultural robotics for optimising irrigation and crop protection, exemplify the future direction. These startups aim to provide farmers with clearer, real-time insights into field conditions, soil health, and plant status, leading to more informed decision-making.
