Spain's InsectBiotech has raised €7.2 million from Arcano Partners via the Impact Andalucía Innovation fund, together with international investors. The company converts agricultural waste - mainly olive pomace - into black soldier fly protein for aquaculture, poultry, swine and pet food.
Alongside the protein, InsectBiotech produces insect oil and a frass fertiliser called ResiliGrow. Its first commercial facility is due to start operations in the third quarter of 2027, processing up to 7,500 tonnes of by-products a year.
