InsectBiotech raises €7.2m to build black soldier fly plant in Andalusia
The Spanish insect-protein producer secured €7.2 million from Arcano Partners and international investors to scale up its Andalusian facility.
Spain's InsectBiotech has raised €7.2 million from Arcano Partners via the Impact Andalucía Innovation fund, together with international investors. The company converts agricultural waste, mainly olive pomace, into black soldier fly protein for aquaculture, poultry, swine and pet food.
Alongside the protein, InsectBiotech produces insect oil and a frass fertiliser called ResiliGrow. Its first commercial facility is due to start operations in the third quarter of 2027, processing up to 7,500 tonnes of by-products a year.
