Copenhagen-based Novonesis agreed to acquire the remaining shares of Australian yeast biotech MicroBioGen, in which it has held a 23% stake since 2013, to strengthen yeast R&D capabilities for industrial applications including bioethanol.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and completion requires regulatory clearances including from Australia's ACCC. The two companies previously co-developed the Innova yeast series.
