Copenhagen-based AgTech startup Perplant has secured €1 million in investment to advance its AI-powered camera sensor technology. This funding will support the company's mission to provide cost-effective, plug-and-play solutions for sustainable farming, enabling tractors to perform centimetre-precision spot spraying.
Perplant’s innovation is an AI-driven camera sensor system that mounts on existing tractors, transforming them into intelligent data centres. Co-founded in 2022 by Rasmus Emil Hansen and Sumod Nandanwar, the technology utilizes Edge AI to enable real-time monitoring and precise spraying, significantly reducing chemical inputs.
The system delivers a 2-10 centimetre resolution, starkly contrasting with traditional satellite imagery's 10-30 meter resolution. This high precision allows for up to 90% reduction in herbicide use and 30% in fertiliser use, translating to an average profit increase of €36,000 annually for a 200-hectare farm.
Having already mapped over 200,000 hectares across Europe, Perplant plans to expand its operations beyond its current presence in 12 countries, including the UK, Netherlands, and Poland, with future expansion targets set for the USA.
