xFarm Technologies, the digital farming company headquartered in Manno, Switzerland, announced on 15 September 2026 that it has acquired Sibium Analytics, a Brazilian agricultural data company serving the sugarcane and biofuel sector. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Sibium sells geospatial, business intelligence and ESG tooling into sugar and ethanol supply chains through two platforms: Sigma Digital, which handles crop mapping and risk assessment, and Ambium Digital, which covers ESG reporting and traceability. Its platforms cover more than 8 million hectares of Brazilian sugarcane.

The deal is xFarm's sixth acquisition and its second Brazilian target inside a year, following CheckPlant in 2025. Earlier purchases include Greenfield Technologies in Spain and SpaceSense in France, both integrated in April 2024. With Sibium added, xFarm says its platform now covers 24 million hectares across more than 600,000 farms globally.

The company raised a €36 million Series C in October 2024, led by Partech through its Impact Growth Fund, with Mouro Capital, Swisscom Ventures and United Ventures participating. Chief executive Matteo Vanotti said the combination creates “an unprecedented, data-driven platform for farmers and processors alike”, adding that “our vision has always been to support farmers and ag innovators with world class data-driven decision making across entire agricultural value chains”. Ronaldo Marani, director of Sibium Analytics, said: “We will be able to deliver even greater value to our customers and expand our solutions to new crops.”

Why it matters for AgTech founders: xFarm is running a roll-up in a category where most European software companies are still growing one country at a time. Three things are worth taking from it. First, what is being bought is not a model or an algorithm but an installed base inside a specific value chain, Sibium's worth is the mills and cane growers already on its platforms. Second, single-crop depth travels better than horizontal breadth, because sugar and ethanol carry their own agronomy, their own compliance load and their own buyers, and a generic field-record app does not win there. Third, ESG and traceability tooling is becoming the commercial reason a processor pays for farm data at all, which is a different buyer and a different budget line from the farmer. If you are building a farm-data product in Europe and the plan is to reach scale organically, the arithmetic behind 24 million hectares in six deals deserves a careful read, as does the question of whether you would rather be the sixth acquisition or the company doing the buying.
